Who Are They
All companies, public and private, that engage at any time in the purchase of construction services within the metropolitan Birmingham area, are encouraged to participate and become signatories to the Birmingham Construction Industry Authority (BCIA) agreement.
General Contractors are key to success of the construction industry program. Hiring subcontractors, identifying opportunities, developing inclusion plans, nurturing relationships and providing supportive resources are examples of ways for general contractors to interact with the program. Due to the voluntary nature of the program, contractors are encouraged to contact BCIA when any opportunity arises to utilize, assist, or grow our local minority and disadvantaged businesses.
Signatory participants agree to participate by adopting the BCIA Guidelines and pledging to comply with the participation goals and objectives established. BCIA guidelines are included in the specifications of each project of the signatory participant, making them obligatory upon the general contractors negotiating and/or bidding such projects. Entities seeking signatory status should contact the BCIA Staff for further information.
